Graham was in town last weekend (le sigh) and we had the best time! It was so nice to have someone visiting from home and also great to be reunited with the BF.
We did lots and lots of fun activities, one of the best being attending the musical, Avenue Q! Graham is definitely down for a musical, but I tried to choose one more on the gender neutral side of things...aka we didn't go to Cinderella. A couple of my coworkers had recommended it due to it's somewhat raunchy and realistic humor.
The story is about a group of neighbors (puppets) who live VERY far out of the city on Avenue Q. They are all in a somewhat unfortunate parts of their lives, either unemployed, stuck in the closet, sadly single, or sadly not single. The main character is a recent grad who moves to NYC without any clue of what real life is and a bachelor's in English.
All of the scenes hit home and remind the audience of some of the uncomfortable/memorable parts of their own lives.
The songs are creative and catchy, the plot is hysterical, the puppets make it out of the ordinary.
I would definitely recommend it and would most likely even see it again!
Next on my broadway list is Annie with my sister-in-law, Olivia and I'm hoping to drag someone else to The Book of Mormon. I'm totally into this broadway thing, sooo fun.
See some fun photos from the musical below and a review here.

MoMo eats - The Meatball Shop
I'm Italian.
Meatballs are my jam.
And I have a very high precendent for these meatballs because my Aunt Alice KNOWS how to make some meatballs. And so does my Mama.
Many friends have tried taking me to The Meatball Shop. They tell me it's the best food on the LES.
And I believe them. And get overly excited.
And each time we were greeted with a beautiful two hour wait and then sulked away to another nearby restaurant.
But my friend Payman made a difference.
He lives right across the street and goes there all the time!
And the service impecable.
(would this be considered a haiku poem?)
Anyway...we ate there on Wednesday. And I must admit, it stood up to my astrnomical expectations.
What we ate...
Dinner:
Payman: Everything but the kitchen sink/ chicken meatball/ spicy meat sauce/ no fennel
Mo: Everything but the kitchen sink/ spicy pork meatball/ spicy meat sauce
Molly: Veggie meatball/ pesto/ risotto
Kailee: Naked balls/ spicy pork meatball/ classic tomato sauce
Drinks:
Molly: Mantelpuchiao
Mo: Captain Lawrence Seasonal Ale
Dessert:
Ice cream sandwich #1: chocolate chip cookie/brownie cookie/mint ice cream
Ice cream sandwich #2: peanut butter cookie/brownie cookie/vanilla ice cream
This place is so legit they even have their own cookbook. I feel like only legit places really have cookbooks. Maybe Amazon just has a way of convincing me of things though.
But seriously, this place was amazing. They also have take out which I will most likely go for since the wait is always so long. If you're ever in the LES/Chinatown/East Village make sure to stop by.
The run down
Service: above average
Price point: very affordable, $75/4 people
Reservations needed?: no reservations accepted
Atmosphere: friendly, loud, noisy, crowded

An update, if you will
Who knew blogging regularly would be so hard!?
I feel as though I've neglected the migration of Mo.
I have a new found respect for The Pioneer Woman... I don't have four kids, a husband, or a ranch. #lackluster
I have many things to report back on...but thought I would do a quick surface update so that you don't COMPLETELY forget about me.
Since the last time I posted...I...
Saw a rat run in front of me in the subway
Joined a gym
Ate at The Meatball Shop (more to come on that one)
Ate at the Clinton St. Baking Company (ditto)
Built a cabinet
Almost had a heart attack due to the building of the cabinet
Went to World Trade Center #7, did you know there were more than two???
Tried Kossar's Bialys bagels
Used ZocDoc to find a dentist
Went to the dentist (wah)
Fell asleep in the dentist chair
Got a talking to from the dental hygienist because I wasn't dressed warm enough
Became obsessed with Ashby's
Didn't blog
Went to spin class
Made 300 cold calls
Drank my body weight in coffee
Had ice cream for dinner
Watched someone pay $12 for a pint of ice cream at the grocery store
Opened my Birch Box
Went to The Box
Went to a Tiki Bar
Got a manicure in Duane Reade
Took out my trash
Cleaned my apartment, which took ten minutes because my apartment is the size of your bedroom
Fell asleep on the subway
Went to Home Sweet Home
Made plans/reservations for this weekend...because Graham is visiting!
If I promise to post more often will you visit my blog everyday so I feel loved? Pretty please?
xxoo, your girl Mo

Umm...
I worked really hard today, really really hard.
I did my laundry.
And it was exhausting.
PSYCH.
I didn't work really hard today.
I dropped off my laundry.
And picked it up.
And paid 15 dollars.
And it was AWESOME.
It's folder perfectly in a square, which is bizarre and fabulous. Smells great, looks great...how is this possible?
Oh the wonders of NYC.

#unrelated
I was telling a friend about my blog the other day. He said, "that's a great idea, but man...if I had written a blog when I moved here it would have been depressing as hell, let's just say my first couple of months were rough!"
In his honor I have decided to highlight some of the unfortunate/uncomfortable things that have taken place to make this blog seem a tad more "realistic" if you will...
1. My feet hurt. Like every day I get into bed and they hurt from walking.
2. It is SO incredibly cold here. Like "put your long underwear on to run errands" cold.
3. Starting over in a sales job is ROUGH - aka sitting in a cubicle making 100 cold calls each day.
4. Don't EVER wear dress pants to work that hit the ground, ever heard of subway grime?
5. Long distance is mis-town. Oh how I miss my bif.
6. Groceries are heavy...forget every buying bottled water or soda, thanks but no thanks.
7. People eat lunch so much later here! Like, who knew???? I need lunch at 11:30am...not 1pm. I'm screwed.
8. I am still adjusting to this whole brunch thing and the day hangover that follows...seems to be a ritual.
9. Miss my besties. sigh.
10. Miss my fam. double sigh.

MoMo eats - Fonda
So...turns out I have a little less time to blog now that I'm working again. Weird, I know.
But, I must tell you about the most fabulous place I had dinner at on Saturday night with my friends Molly and Jeff.
Molly and Jeff live in South Slope which is on the south side of Park Slope in Brooklyn, NY. The area is awesome, lots of delicious restaurants and unique bars with a strong sense of community.
I was in the mood for Mexi. Molly was in the mood for Mexi. Jeff was in the mood for food.
So we ended up at Fonda.
I got a little crazy and tried something completely out of the ordinary to drink...a Corona Light. (sorrynotsorry)
Molly had a the Clasica and Jeff had the Rosalita. We voted the Clasica as our number one cocktail. it was your typical, yet fabuloso fresh margarita.
Upon arrive we noticed heaping mounds of guac in those bizarro lava looking bowls. And my-oh-my it was DELISH. I think we both agreed it was the best part of the meal. We ordered it medium spicy and it had a nice kick without being overpowered.
For dinner, Molly had ENCHILADA DE MOLE NEGRO OAXAQUEÑO, I had POLLO NORTEÑO and Jeff got SOPA DE TORTILLA.
Molly's dish was a typical enchilada but with an insane mole sauce which was rich and flavorful. My entree was the favorite, a cheesy rendition of fajitas (my Mexi go-to), Jeff's meal was your typical chicken tortilla soup.
The run down
Service: mediocre, we waited a while for drinks and the guac
Price point: average, $100/3 people with drinks/apps before tip
Reservations needed?: yes
Atmosphere: Romantic/social

Obsessions - Union Market
One of my largest concerns with the move was grocery shopping.
Lame, I know.
But everyone told me....
"You'll never grocery shop, it's so expensive."
"You'll never grocery shop, it's such a pain to carry those dag'um heavy groceries."
"You'll never grocery shop, everyone eats out!"
"You'll never grocery shop, maybe you'll get them delivered?"
But I always grocery shop. And love having fresh produce. And love cooking little baby Mo meals.
So I kept looking, and looking, and looking.
And the grocery gods smiled upon me.

Meet, Union Market. The cutest supermarket ever, sorry Trader Joe.
Fresh produce. And it's affordable! Say wha????
You give MoMo an olive bar and she'll give you her heart. You let her taste them in the store and she'll love you forever.
This one's for you, Graham. Will you move here now?!!?!? They have roaster-ie chickens here too!
Isles upon isles of wonderfulness. Say hi to my sweet friend, Lorna in the background.
Just kidding, about Lorna. But she looks like a Lorna.
Anyway...it's the best and I'm so amped that I can check that off my list of things to discover.
Hope your Saturday is as INSANE as mine was!
xxoo, Mo
